Add 1 More to our Crazy Lives

This post has been a long time coming, and here it is
Melodie Grace Schultz
has FINELY made her way into the out side world. At
10:54 pm July 1st 2010
Our AMAZING baby girl was born. She was
6 lbs and 7ozs. 19 1/2 in long.
She has a FULL head of DARK hair.
And as far as I can tell she is PERFECT in every way.
And if only it were so easy......

Let me back up a bit,
I had been in labor for DAYS....
WEEKS even and I was in ALOT of pain at times,
So July 1 I had a normal check up at my Dr's.
I was 37weekd 6 days pregnant and
I was 3 and 1/2 cm and 75% thinned out.
He said that if I didn't go into "labor" on my own the next week we would talk about an
induction.
Did I fail to mention that Aaron is to start Corrections Aced. on the 12th of July,
5 days before my DUE DATE.
Talk about stress.

Thankfully it didn't take long and 3 hours later when I gave in and went
the NorthWest Women's Center to get checked I was
6 cm and totally thinned out.
NEEDLESS to day I was going to have a baby very soon.
So I made the calls I needed to make and before I knew
Mackenzie and Grandma Kris were by my side.
Soon to follow were my parents and it was game on.
As I said before Melodie Grace was born at 10:54 pm.

Every thing was fine and I was able to nurse her, my parents drove back
to Mesa and Grandma took Mackenzie home.
Aaron and I were just taking in our newest addition. We were both very
tired so Aaron put baby in here bed and He and I both closed our every to rest.
A few min later my nurse came into check baby and me and that's when my world
flipped upside down for a few days. 10 to be exact.

Melodie was breathing VERY FAST and her COLOR was NOT right.
She was taken to the NICU or Special Care Nursery to be checked out
and a bit later my nurse was back. ALONE
Shortly after that the NP from the NICU was in my room telling me that my baby
girl was having a chest x-ray and that as soon as they new what was wrong
they'd let me know. At this point I was still so tired I wasn't really sure
what was going on, I feel asleep and later another NP came in to talk to us.
They were NOT quite sure what was going on but they thought that it was
premature Lungs and that she needed to stay in the NICU and that she would be given
meds in case there were any kind of infection. She was also put on O2 via a cannula to
improve her breathing.

Over the next 3 days things got worse, day 3 she was put on a c-pap and there was talk of moving her to
a different hospital. I was a MESS at this point, I was going home that day and I didn't know
what was going on with our daughter. I needed a little time to process what was going on and I knew if the meds they were getting ready to try to give her next didn't work we'd be in BIG trouble.

Heavenly Father hears our prayers Of this I am sure....
1 day later things were getting better.
Day 5 she was able to come off the c-pap and for the
first time in 4 days I was able to hold my daughter again.
Day 6 we were able to come and help with
her feedings and then DAY 7......

Aaron and I went to go do her 12 o clock feeding and as we entered the room
the NP told us that they had heard a heart murmmer and that there was a heart Doc doing
an echo on her at the moment. We walked over and he showed us where the was a hole in
Melodies heart. At that moment my heart was breaking, I thought that things were getting better and
now this. I had NO idea what this ment and if it ment that she'd have to stay longer.
The Dr. explained that this was something that is common as far as heart defects go and that this is something that is fixable. We were to follow up in 1 week and he would have another echo done to see if there was any improvement. After I had time to talk this all in I was okay.

Melodie has already proven that she is UNSTOP ABLE she was doing so well that she was able to come home on the 10th of July and she has been doing great ever since.
She went to her heart Dr. today and some of the problems are gone others are improving already!

I'll add pics tomorrow!
